COVID-19: Exceptional Social Protection Measures
EA BriefLabour
11 May, 2020Decree Law no. 20-C/2020 of 7 May has brought into force new exceptional social protection measures in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the legislation, extraordinary financial support will also be extended to the members of statutory bodies of legal persons with management functions when they have employees in their service and to self-employed workers not covered by the measures already in force, either because they have no contribution obligation or because they do not meet the other conditions for accessing the extraordinary support.
Social protection measures were also adapted in order to respond to emerging needs, namely the widening of access to initial unemployment benefit and the simplification of access to social integration income.
In addition, it was created a measure to include people who are excluded from the social protection system and who are not compulsorily covered by a national or foreign social security system, provided that they declare the start or restart of self-employed activity in the tax administration.
